Minicrush Announces the Establishment of a Low-GI Candy R&D Center, Opening Custom Solutions for Multiple Sweeteners, Including Erythritol and Stevia
In response to the global trend of "glycemic index management" (GI) regulations in the snack industry, MiniCrush today officially announced the establishment of a Low-GI Candy R&D Center, fully opening up its capabilities to customize formulations for multiple sweeteners, including erythritol, stevia, allulose, maltitol, and monk fruit sugar, to meet the increasingly stringent health labeling requirements in European, American, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian markets.
In recent years, countries such as the UK, Singapore, Japan, and the UAE have begun incorporating "low GI" (glycemic index) criteria into import reviews or recommended indicators for children's food standards, in addition to sugar tax regulations. For example, the UK's NHS encourages "alternatives to high-GI snacks" in its school food standards; Singapore's Healthier Choice label adds a "lower in glycogen load" category; the UAE proposes "encouraging low-GI sweeteners as main ingredients" in its updated Halal food regulations; and the Japan Health Inspection Food Association classifies foods with a GI ≤ 55 as "recommended for specific health purposes." This means that in the future export system, whether a snack product is "low glycemic" will become a new trade entry threshold.
Faced with industry changes, MiniCrush decided to take the initiative.
"We no longer understand 'sugar-free' simply as 'no added sucrose,' but instead start from the glycemic curve itself to build a more scientific sugar system," said the MiniCrush R&D director. "Erythritol is suitable for the Keto diet in Europe and the United States, stevia caters to the natural crowd, allulose is more popular in halal recipes in the Middle East, and monk fruit sugar performs well in the children and senior markets. Different markets require different solutions, so we must develop the ability to freely combine multiple sweeteners."
MiniCrush revealed that its low-GI R&D center has currently established a "five-sweetener + multi-base application model":

Currently, MiniCrush has received inquiries from Custom inquiries for low-GI gummies and low-sugar chocolates are being received from customers in Germany, the UAE, and Malaysia, with some formulas entering the stability verification phase. The company stated that all low-GI products are available for OEM/ODM/private label collaboration, and can provide GI test reports, clean label ingredient lists, Halal or Kosher certification, and Keto-Friendly nutrition labeling upon export requirements.
Notably, MiniCrush also offered a more forward-looking perspective:

MiniCrush stated that its Low GI R&D Center will continue to expand its formula database and plans to collaborate with third-party nutrition organizations to establish an "online glycemic index assessment platform" to help brands and distributors quickly upgrade their products to healthier levels.
